Derrick W. Lowe

Derrick W. Lowe, Clerk of the Circuit Court for Cecil County, MDDerrick W. Lowe has served as Clerk of Circuit Court for Cecil County since his election into the office in 2010. Prior to the election, Mr. Lowe practiced law in Elkton, Maryland and his practice focused on Family Law, Consumer Bankruptcy, Domestic Violence, and Criminal Law.

Immediately following law school, Mr. Lowe served as Law Clerk to the Hon. O. Robert Lidums of the Circuit Court for Cecil County. Mr. Lowe is a member of the Cecil County Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association. He was admitted to practice law in the State of Maryland in 2008 and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland in 2009. He is a member of the Maryland Circuit Court Clerk’s Association. Mr. Lowe currently serves on the Board of Directors and is an active member in the Rotary Club of Elkton. He is also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society.

As your Clerk of Circuit Court, Mr. Lowe’s goals are to provide the courthouse patrons with a well-trained, knowledgeable staff who offer prompt courteous service. Furthermore, his office works closely with the Circuit Court Judiciary to ensure that Cecil County consistently meets yearly case time standards and continued improvement of accessibility of the legal system to all.

Mr. Lowe received his Juris Doctorate in 2008 from Widener University School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Lowe served as a Staff Writer and Bluebook Editor for the Widener Law Review. He also received a Paralegal Certificate in 2005 with honors from the Legal Education Institute of Widener University. He received his Masters Degree in Business Administration from East Tennessee State University in 2002. He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from Tennessee Technological University which was attained in 1990.
 
Mr. Lowe resides in Elkton, Maryland with his wife and two children.
