How
do I apply to become a Notary Public?
Applications
for Notary Public Commission can be obtained from the Secretary of State
in Annapolis, Maryland or you may download the application at the Secretary
of State's web site (www.sos.state.md.us).
Once
the application has been submitted and approved, you will be notified
by mail to appear before the Clerk of the Circuit Court located at 206 High Street, Cambridge, MD 21613 to take the oath
of office and receive your Notary Commission. There is an $11.00 fee payable
to the Clerk of the Circuit Court at the time you take the oath of office.

How
do I get an Authentication of a Notary Public?
Authentication
may be obtained in person at the Circuit Court or by mail: P.O. Box 150, Cambridge, MD 21613. The Clerk of the Circuit Court for
Dorchester County authenticates a Notary Public from Dorchester County only. The
fee is $1.00 per authentication. Checks
should be made payable to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
