Internship Program

The internship program in the Department of Judicial Education is designed to provide an opportunity for law students to experience a government sector workplace within the state judicial branch. Contact with judges and judicial branch employees and work on the development of courses for the Judicial Education continuing judicial education program will give interns the opportunity to gain “real world” experience. Under the supervision of the Judicial Education's Manager, the intern will assist in working with the course development staff, conducting legal and interdisciplinary research, developing material for judicial education, and many other related tasks. Additionally, interns will have the opportunity to attend conferences, classes, and meetings with members of the judiciary.

The internship experience is designed in consultation with the career development office at the student’s law school. The internship may be used for academic credit depending on the requirements of the school. Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample.

Internship sessions are scheduled in accordance with law school semesters in the spring, fall, and summer. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but the following deadlines apply:

Spring Term: December 1
Fall Term: August 1
Summer Term: May 1

Candidates for the internship program will be selected on the basis of their academic standing, expressed interest, and experience. General knowledge of computers and familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe is recommended.
