Prince George’s County Courts Finalize Operation Plans
While Repairs Continue at Upper Marlboro Courthouse

(UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – February 24, 2015) The Prince George’s County Circuit Court and District Court have made arrangements to continue to provide services while crews work to repair damage after water lines in the Upper Marlboro courthouse burst.

Circuit Court:
The Prince George’s County Circuit Court, Duvall Wing, Judiciary Services Building and the ADR unit remain open to the public. The Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is fully operational under normal business hours, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., in Upper Marlboro.

Members of the public must enter the courthouse using the Main Street entrance. The Bourne Wing, which houses the District Court as well as the Marbury Wing and the Marbury expansion portions of the Upper Marlboro courthouse building, remain closed.

Three circuit court jury trials are being held in Greenbelt at the federal courthouse, following an agreement between the circuit court and the federal court. Child in Need of Assistance (CINA) cases and other family matters are being held in the Circuit Court Judiciary Services Building. Other pending civil, family and criminal matters are being held in the Duvall Wing of the Upper Marlboro courthouse.

The latest updates, details about dockets, and other information will be posted on the Prince George’s County website for the Circuit Court, http://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/sites/CircuitCourt/Pages/default.aspx.

 

District Court:
The Upper Marlboro location of the District Court remains closed. District Court cases that were scheduled to be heard in Upper Marlboro while the courthouse has been closed for repairs will be rescheduled. You will be notified via U.S. mail of your new court date.

The Hyattsville location of the District Court (4990 Rhode Island Avenue) continues to be open to the public. District Court filings must be made in person at the Hyattsville courthouse.

All regularly scheduled District Court cases in Hyattsville will proceed as planned. Rescheduled criminal and domestic violence cases will be held at the Hyattsville location February 26-27. District Court bond hearings will be held Wednesday through Friday, February 25-27, in Hyattsville at 1:15 p.m. The mental health court docket will be held at the Prince George’s County Detention Center at 9 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.

All new domestic violence petitions can be filed at the Duvall Wing of the Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro or the Hyattsville District Court location.

District Court phones are out of service:
Due to an electrical outage caused by the water damage, the telephone systems at the Upper Marlboro and Hyattsville courthouses are temporarily out of service. For District Court-related questions, please email [email protected]. Inquiries to this temporary email address will be responded to within 48 hours. If the inquiry is urgent, please visit the Hyattsville courthouse in person. District Court filings cannot be accepted at this email address.
