NEW ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE NAMED FOR
BALTIMORE COUNTY DISTRICT COURT
(ANNAPOLIS, MD–June 3, 2002)
Chief Judge James N. Vaughan of the District Court of Maryland, with the
approval of Court of Appeals Chief Judge Robert M. Bell, has named
Judge Alexandra N. Williams to serve as the new administrative judge of
the Baltimore County District Court. Judge Williams assumes the position
left vacant by the death of Judge Michael McCampbell.
“Judge Williams brings strong leadership
and integrity to the role of Administrative Judge,” said Chief Judge Vaughan
in announcing his decision. “I look forward to working with her in
her new capacity.” He also praised the late Judge McCampbell for
his many years of dedicated service to the Judiciary.
Since joining the District Court, Judge Williams has been an active participant
in its administration, serving on the Judicial Education Committee, the
Committee on Criminal and Motor Vehicle Matters, and the Commissioner Education
Committee. Prior to joining the bench, she was Assistant State’s
Attorney for Baltimore County from 1981-94, and served as Chief of its
District Court Division from 1991-94. She holds a J.D. from the University
of Baltimore School of Law.
