Dario Broccolino Named Interim
State’s Attorney for Howard County

(ELLICOTT CITY, MD — December 14, 2007) The three judges of the Circuit Court for Howard County who comprise the committee to select the interim state’s attorney announced today that Dario J. Broccolino has been named interim state's attorney for Howard County, effective December 14, 2007. The state's attorney position became vacant after Judge Timothy J. McCrone was named associate judge of the Circuit Court for Howard County.

Mr. Broccolino served as a deputy state's attorney for five years under State's Attorney Timothy McCrone and for four years under State's Attorney Marna McLendon. He also served for 10 years as the state's attorneys' education coordinator and as an assistant state's attorney in Baltimore City for 17 years.

A graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, Mr. Broccolino is active in professional organizations and community affairs and is currently serving on the board of directors of the Maryland State's Attorneys' Association.

The committee is pleased that Mr. Broccolino has agreed to serve, thereby ensuring continuity of prosecutorial services for the citizens of Howard County. Pursuant to the Maryland Constitution, Article V, Section 11, the committee will appoint a person to fill the residue of the term. This position will be advertised.
