Media Advisory: Maryland Judiciary sponsors public seminar on domestic violence database

(ANNAPOLIS, Md. –June 16, 2009) People who work with victims of domestic violence will learn about a new tool to help track and enforce peace and protective orders issued in Maryland courts. The Maryland Judiciary’s Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is joining with the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence to hold an information session on Maryland’s protective and peace order database.

This database allows law enforcement officers and court personnel throughout the state to access all protective and peace orders issued in Maryland. Representatives from the AOC and the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence will demonstrate the new database, discuss its applications, history and future developments, and answer questions. The session is open to domestic violence advocates, court personnel, and staff from state’s attorney’s offices, as well as the public.

The information session will be held Tuesday, June 23, 9:30 a.m.-noon, at the Judiciary Education and Conference Center, 2009 B Commerce Park Drive, Annapolis.

The media is invited to attend; reservations are required. For more information, contact Darrell Pressley, 410-260-1488, darrell.pressley@mdcourts.gov
