Queen Anne’s County Circuit Court Launches Website and Jury Management System

(CENTREVILLE, Md., Nov. 18, 2010) The Circuit Court for Queen Anne's County has launched a new website and a new jury management system. The website includes information about essential court services, while the new jury management system streamlines procedures for prospective jurors with convenient online access.

The new website (http://www.mdcourts.gov/circuit/queenannes) includes information about court services, policies and procedures, as well as links that include maps and directions, family services, transcript requests and contact information.

With the new jury management system, prospective jurors can go to the court’s website to complete the juror qualification form and receive a one-time deferral. The system is funded through the Administrative Office of the Courts and is part of a statewide, multi-year effort to help 15 jurisdictions modernize their jury management systems.

“We hope our new, expanded court website, along with the information previously provided on the Clerk’s web page, are valuable services to the citizens of Queen Anne’s County,” said County Administrative Judge Thomas G. Ross. “The new jury management system will improve the efficiency of the administration of the jury process, hopefully making jury service a more positive experience. Jurors are absolutely essential to our system of justice, and we want to do all we can to show our appreciation for those who serve in this critical role.”

In the new “one-step” process, both the summons and questionnaire are mailed to the potential juror six to seven weeks before the juror is needed for jury service. The potential juror must return the qualification portion of the form within 10 days by mail or complete it online, and report for jury service in accordance with the instructions on the summons. Jurors can also call a voice message system and view the court’s website to get instructions about when and if to report to the courthouse. The juror summons provides the information needed to access the call-in system and the jury announcement page on the website.

Beginning with the January 2011 service period, jurors can view specific instructions by juror reporting number on the jury announcement page.
