Former U.S. Ambassador Paul E. Simons and State Senator Nathaniel
McFadden Visit Baltimore Drug Treatment Court
(BALTIMORE – Oct. 20, 2011) Today, Thursday, Oct. 20, the Baltimore City District Court will welcome former U.S. Ambassador Paul E. Simons to its drug treatment court. Simons will be the keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony for the adult drug treatment court.
Simons, who was U.S. Ambassador to Chile from 2007-2010, is the newly appointed executive secretary of the Inter American Drug Abuse Control Commission (CICAD) of the Organization of American States (OAS). He assumed that position on Sept. 1, following a distinguished 30-year career in the U.S. diplomatic service. During his career, when he was acting Assistant Secretary of State for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Simons managed more than $1 billion in annual resources supporting U.S. drug control and police training programs worldwide.
Senator Nathaniel J. McFadden, who has been a member of the state Senate since 1995 and serves as the President Pro Tem, will also address drug court graduates.
