Judge Bonnie G. Schneider Named Administrative Judge
for District Court in Upper Eastern Shore

Judge Bonnie G. Schneider(ANNAPOLIS, Md. – September 14, 2015) Cecil County District Judge Bonnie G. Schneider has been named administrative judge for District 3, which includes Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties.  District Court of Maryland Chief Judge John P. Morrissey’s selection of Schneider for the position was approved by Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera.  Judge Schneider’s appointment is effective October 1, 2015.

Judge Schneider will serve as the administrative leader of District 3’s judges, officers, and employees.  She will be responsible for court administration, management of the trial calendar to ensure the expeditious disposition of cases, oversight of the district’s budget, and implementation of MDEC, the Judiciary’s electronic case management system.

Judge Schneider succeeds Judge Stephen J. Baker, who is retiring after 17 years of service.  He has served as District 3 administrative judge since May 2007.

“I am very grateful to Judge Baker for his service to the people of Maryland and his excellent management of District 3,” Chief Judge Morrissey said.  “Judge Schneider is a worthy successor and brings management skills that make her uniquely qualified to lead the District Court in Caroline, Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties.”

Judge Schneider, a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, earned her law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.  Cecil County’s first female judge, she has served as associate judge of the District Court since 2008.

“I am honored to be chosen by Chief Judge Morrissey for this new responsibility,” Judge Schneider said.  “With thanks to Judge Baker for his leadership, I look forward to building on his example to serve our fellow citizens with respect, courtesy, efficiency and fairness.”
