Baltimore City Circuit Court Honors Adult Drug Treatment Court Graduates

 

(BALTIMORE, MARYLAND, May 23, 2017) – The Circuit Court for Baltimore City will honor participants from its Adult Drug Treatment Court program in a graduation ceremony on Friday, May 26.  Participants will celebrate completing the program with friends and family during the graduation.  News media are invited to attend.

Baltimore City Circuit Judge Sylvester B. Cox, Baltimore City Circuit Judge Ellen M. Heller, and Baltimore City Circuit Judge Thomas J. S. Waxter, Jr. will preside over the graduation ceremony.  Baltimore Mayor Catherine E. Pugh will serve as the event’s keynote speaker.

Baltimore City Circuit Court Adult Drug Treatment Court combines judicial oversight with intensive treatment and supervision, and provides vocational, educational, life skills training, and other services to address issues that contribute to substance abuse and criminal behavior.  Maryland’s first drug treatment courts began in 1994 in Baltimore City District Court and Circuit Court.  Since then, the program has expanded to 54 programs throughout the state.
