More than 40 United States Naval Academy midshipmen gained insight into the legal profession during a November 21 visit to the Maryland Court of Appeals. The two groups of midshipmen, who visited the state’s highest court as a part of their coursework for an American Government and Constitutional Development class, met with Court of Appeals Judge Joseph M. Getty, who discussed historical and recent Fourth Amendment cases and fielded questions. Court of Appeals Judge Clayton Greene, Jr., joined Judge Getty in speaking to the first group of midshipmen. The midshipmen also heard from Attorney Grievance Commission Bar Counsel Lydia Lawless, who explained the rules of professional ethics within the legal field.
