Judiciary Honors Students for Promoting Peace Through Artwork
Maryland Court of Appeals Chief Judge Mary Ellen Barbera honored more than 60 creative young artists from throughout the state who were the winners of the Judiciary’s 12th Conflict Resolution Day Student Bookmark Art Contest.  The reception for winners and families, which took place December 5 at the Maryland Judicial College Education and Conference Center in Annapolis, celebrated the artistic talents of students in grades K-8 whose bookmarks best exemplified the theme of peaceful conflict resolution.  During the reception, Chief Judge Barbera presented awards to contest winners and students whose entries earned honorable mentions.  The contest was sponsored by the Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO).  In addition to recognizing the award-winning entries, MACRO displayed many of the more than 1,800 bookmarks that were submitted by students from throughout the state.
