“You learn more in one year of clerking than you learn in eight years of practice.”
– Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 2012
Thank you for your interest in serving as a law clerk with the Maryland Judiciary. Becoming a Judicial law clerk with the State of Maryland is a great opportunity to gain valuable legal experience. The law clerk position is a one-year, full-time, state-funded position. The Maryland Judiciary currently has law clerks serving in the Court of Appeals, Court of Special Appeals, the circuit courts and the District Court. It is the Maryland Judiciary’s goal to provide new law clerks with a unique and valuable experience that cannot be gained elsewhere while providing our Judges with the legal assistance necessary to conduct the work of their chambers.
