Beginning January 3, 2018, the Town of Centreville will undertake a major project for replacement of utility pipes and paving on Liberty and Commerce Streets (surrounding the courthouse).  The construction for this project will be completed in phases and is anticipated to continue for approximately 2 years. Until the utility work is completed on Liberty Street, all traffic will be transferred over to Commerce Street (two-way) and once that is finished, all traffic on Commerce Street will be transferred over to Liberty Street (two-way).  There will be parking in the public lots, however, there will be areas where no on-street parking will be available along Liberty Street, Commerce Street, and West Water Street.

Rich in the tradition and history of Maryland, the Office of Clerk of the Circuit Court is one of the oldest public institutions in the state.

The Clerk of the Court is a locally elected state official with the responsibilities established and regulated by the laws of Maryland and the Rules of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Since 1658, the Office of Clerk of the Court has provided the citizens of Maryland with a variety of essential services. The revenue collected by the clerks for these services is distributed to city, county and state governments.

Each year the Clerk's office files, processes and maintains civil, criminal and juvenile actions. The Clerk's office records land deeds, mortgages, plats, conveyances and other precious documents. The Clerk administers oaths to county officials, judges and governor appointees; issues business and marriage licenses and performs civil wedding ceremonies. The Clerk also commissions Notaries Public and processes passport applications.

As you can see, the Office of Clerk of the Circuit Court is a busy place. I'm very proud of the work we do and hope the above facts acquaint you with the many services provided by the Clerk here in Queen Anne's County.
